PBSO Funding and Donations |
 |
 |
| Jan Pearce and Joanne Bunton (PBSO) and Diane Myers
(Multiple Births Canada) recieve a check for $92,000 from MPP Tina
Molinari. |
 |
| Government Funding |
 |
|
| PBSO receives a portion of its annual funding through
various government grants. When applications are approved, these grants
are short term or are project based, and do not contribute to the
long-term annual budget. The Ontario Trillium Foundation provided
PBSO with a 4-year grant to establish fundraising events that will
help make the organization self sufficient. The Ministry of Citizenship
provided a grant in 2002 to develop this Volunteer Orientation and
Training web site. |
 |
| Corporate Donations and Foundations |
 |
|
| The staff at PBSO work year round sending proposals
to various corporations and foundations asking for funding. With the
assistance of a database of Canadian corporations and foundations
with charitable funds to distribute, PBSO has been successful in securing
funding for some activities. However, the most successful proposals
are to companies and foundations in which PBSO Volunteers have personal
connections. Should you or a family member work for a company
that has a charitable donation division or department, or an individual
responsible for making donation decisions, please supply a contact
name to the Executive Director of PBSO. Your direct connection may
help PBSO receive much needed funding. |
 |
| Private Donations |
 |
|
| A significant and important part of PBSOs funding
comes from private donations from parents, Volunteers, their families
and supportive members of the community. Without these regular donations
the service to bereaved parents would cease. |
 |
| Annual Membership Drive |
 |
|
| Each November, PBSO appeals to the people of PBSO for
a membership fee. Membership to the organization is free to all bereaved
parents, however, this fundraising drive is an effort to generated
revenue needed to continue meeting the growing need for PBSO services
across the province. |
