Self Help Support Groups

We recognize the benefits that can be achieved by talking with similarly bereaved parents. Self help support groups are facilitated by trained bereaved parents and take place in Toronto (3 locations), Durham/Scarborough, Markham, Brampton, Woodstock/Oxford County, Peterborough, Espanola and Sault Ste Marie. Parents can join the groups at any time by calling the PBSO office to register. Groups generally run in the evenings welcoming both mothers and fathers, alone or as a couple. There is no charge for this service.

One-to-one Support

One-to-one support is available for parents unable to attend one of the Self Help Support Groups. Support may be done by phone or E-mail. Bereaved families are matched with a support parent who has experienced a similar loss by calling the PBSO office. There is no cost for this service and it is available to anyone in Ontario who does not have a local support group.

Subsequent Pregnancy Support

Subsequent Pregnancy Support is available in the group format or on-to-one to assist families in managing the pregnancy that follows the death of a baby. There is no cost for this service.

Annual Memorials

PBSO’s annual memorials help families remember their baby and facilitate the mourning process. The “Butterfly Release” in June, the ‘Walk to Remember” in the fall and the “Candle Lighting Memorial” in December are open to all families who have experience the death of a baby at any time in the past.
